OnBoard Magazine - Issue XII - 2020 Season
is all over the historic town of Plymouth, with seven facilities and over 2,000 team members. Their furniture shop is one of the largest in Europe and, one of their buildings is large enough to do a full-size mockup of a boat interior for the new X95 with room to spare. Some of the buildings have over 10 boats of varying sizes in some stage of production. It's astonishing to realize the scale of the organization." It should go without saying that custom Carolina boat builder Jarrett Bay Boatworks fabricates most components in house. They are literally “cold molding” each boat by hand, every part a one-of-a-kind piece built for a specific hull. An on-site CNC router produces precision cut jigs for laying up their hulls and cabin tops while a giant infusion table manages vacuum resin infusion of the composite foredeck, cabin top and cabin sides. They even fabricate their own exhaust components from the turbo outlet to the underwater pressure chambers. The humble, but skilled folks at Jarrett Bay go above and beyond to give tours of their impressive operation and is a sight to behold should you get the opportunity. THE AWE FACTOR It’s a joy for customers and brokers to experience the build process up-close and firsthand while meeting the teammembers and craftspeople that turn raw materials into works of art. However, we don’t stop there. Getting you onboard a completed boat or out on the water for a demo ride is also a priority to us and our featured brands. We revel in exhilarating the senses with speed and handling, the flawless finish of interiors and cabinetry and the refinement and luxury evident in every space aboard the boat. Bluewater Sales Pro Chuck Meyers shares his sea trial experiences with Princess Yachts in Plymouth, England: “Sea trialing yachts at the factory is a unique experience. Plymouth harbor leads straight to the English Channel and out to the North Atlantic—a perfect proving ground. It is hard to decide which is more fun: turning the R35 hard over to port at 40 knots and feeling like it is on rails or how impressive the massive S78 feels as it runs along deceptively fast cruising (not even wide open) at over 30 knots.” CUSTOMER SUPPORT As Bluewater partners Jud Black and Earle Hall will tell you, at the end of the day, we’re in the customer service business. Let’s be honest, offering a less-than-perfect product not only isn’t in our DNA, it isn’t in our business interest either. Carrying anything but the best boat brands would be a hassle for us to support and service. As much as any customer doesn’t deserve a new boat that has quality control issues, we don’t want to be associated with that product either. “Judge us by the company we keep,” says Earle Hall. In business for over fifty years, one learns what to look for and who to work with. We’ve arrived with these brand partnerships because we want to provide the very best customer experience possible, with the least time spent worrying about issues or warranty work. The brand relationships Bluewater has developed and grown throughout the years with our OEMs has come naturally through a philosophy of excellence and family values. Our ethos and drive for unsurpassed customer experiences and satisfaction aligns perfectly with our featured brands, and we work together like a well-oiled machine. We’re not just trying to sell boats—we are developing long-lasting relationships built on honesty, integrity, and a mutual passion for boating. Everyone is eager to get to the hands-on training portion offered at Jupiter (above), Regulator and Princess Yachts. 49 2020 SEASON
