OnBoard Magazine - Issue XII - 2020 Season

Jan was a tough, passionate woman who expected excellence from everyone she worked with. She worked hard to climb through the corporate ranks, and as she excelled, she forged lifelong relationships with co‐workers, industry leaders and customers. Her presence made the people around her better, sometimes by expecting more, but often by helping them succeed though her tireless work ethic and persistence. Jan was passionate about everything she did. Boat shows were like Christmas, and the Fort Lauderdale Show was her “Super Bowl”. She loved having sales meetings and going over every detail. She made sure everyone was prepared and would ask questions like we were taking a final exam. Even with a heavy workload and endless travel, we always found a way to have fun, playing many practical jokes. While she had to act like she didn’t approve, she loved the fun, and I even remember seeing her hiding behind a curtain once so that no one would see her laughing. Jan was a best friend, mother, psychologist, and boss in one package. Her ability to listen and know how to help was uncanny. Jan may have been the most unselfish person I have ever known. She was always willing to give you her most precious gift... her time. Jan loved life, loved her career, but more than anything, she loved JB, Lauren and her family. Lauren was the light of Jan’s life, and words cannot describe how proud she was of her. I can honestly say that knowing Jan has helped me be a better person, and my guess is you can say the same. Her life and legacy will live on through each of us, and how we go forward in our lives. Thank you Jan for being our rock. Randy Ramsey A Tribute to the Life and Legacy of Jan Boone In May 2019, we lost Bluewater Yacht Sales President, Jan Boone, after her courageous fight against cancer. Jan’s health battle was prolonged, but she was a true warrior and continued to push forward, leading Bluewater Yacht Sales throughout her treatments. Jan Boone’s principles, dedication and achievements will endure through the generations of people she mentored and inspired. This issue of OnBoard magazine is dedicated to her memory and in the following space her Bluewater colleagues share their gratitude for Jan’s unique blend of perseverance and friendship. Remembering a Dear Friend and Leader It’s very difficult to try and boil down what Jan meant to me to something concise, so I will just share a couple thoughts: From a business perspective, Jan was the hardest working person I’ve ever encountered. Without her, I have no doubt that Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales would have gone bankrupt during the deepest part of the recession in 2008-2009. We had a huge amount of boat inventory, and Jan was dogged in selling through it in a terrible market. At a personal level, Jan was a strong, supportive friend. She was smart, sympathetic, honest and loyal. She loved her family and was immensely proud of Lauren. Dan Reitz It’s hard to put down in just a few words what Jan meant to me. She was our unwavering leader through any storm. She was the epitome of working harder than your competition and leading by example. Most importantly Jan was a friend. Always available to discuss any work or personal related matter, it was clear that Jan cared. I was gifted with her advice from the first time I discussed a client with her at Hatteras Yachts to the last time I got to visit with her at her home as she spent her final days with family and friends sharing her life lessons. She always wanted the best for those she cared about. She remains an irreplaceable force in my life and is truly missed every single day. We love and miss you Jan! Chuck Meyers
