OnBoard Magazine - Issue XVII - 2025 Season

The new 50 is also engineered to accommodate an optional omnidirectional sonar system—which has quickly become a must-have capability on all new sportfish. [Read more about omni sonars on pages 17-19]. This gamechanging tool is now offered on nearly all of Viking’s new builds that are 41 feet or larger, including the Valhalla center console line. Healey explains the process of redesigning fuel tank layouts and shifting equipment in the engine room to accommodate the space required to install the sonar tube and transducer. In these changes and new configurations, there are no sacrifices to performance or amenities. The Viking engineers adjust other parts of the boat to make up for changes in volume or placement of the systems. PICK YOUR STYLE While every Viking is infused with a hardcore fishing pedigree and a host of luxury amenities that cruisers love too, the new 50 line truly has the versatility to appeal to nearly all types of boaters. The 50C will be the closest in feel to Viking's larger convertibles, offering a mezzanine to port, a fully enclosed salon and a king-sized master stateroom with ensuite head and shower. The 50 Billfish is designed for fish-focused owner-operators, emphasizing ease of maintenance and service, and a larger cockpit to operate in than the convertible. Both models offer climate-controlled comfort and overnight accommodations, making them suitable for short trips and extended voyages. The 50 BF will become the largest model in Viking’s Billfish series, following the 38 and 46 Billfish models, both of which have already become popular vessels for Bluewater customers in the Mid-Atlantic. The preliminary plans for the Viking 50 Open, Sport Coupe and Sport Tower all share a similar layout with a lower level command deck and interior galley with L-shaped convertible dinette. The lower accommodations include a day head plus Queen sized master stateroom, or an optional over-under berth setup in the bow. The biggest difference between the Open and Sport models are of course the bulkhead which partitions the command deck and helm area from the cockpit. The fanfare and excitement of a new product launch from Viking Yachts is always palpable. With the new 50 series model line, we can sustain that excitement through the fall of 2025 and into 2026 as the 50 Billfish follows the launch of the first 50 Convertible. Then the Open and Sport versions will round out the launch of the third generation of one of Viking’s most versatile size ranges. The Bluewater team is excited about these new builds, which, due to their size and versatility, are poised to become a perfect package and a successful model lineup for the Mid-Atlantic market. 50' OPEN 50' SPORT COUPE & SPORT TOWER PRELIMINARY DRAWINGS 50' CONVERTIBLE 50' OPEN / SC / ST 50' BILLFISH 43 2025 SEASON
