1968 Coastal Virginia BORN TO BOAT Bluewater was launched when life-long boater and sailor Chris Hall, Sr. took part ownership in a boat dealership in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Over time, he began offering sales, service and support to all of the boating communities near his Portsmouth home. 1970s Hampton, Virginia THE YACHTING CENTER DEVELOPS Three separate waterfront operations on the Hampton River were purchased and developed into a single service and sales facility. The Bluewater Yachting Center became a one-stop-shop catering to the Hampton Yacht Club community. 1980 A PARTNERSHIP WITH VIKING Bluewater acquired an additional four acre boatyard on Sunset Creek, where they sold and servicedmany new boat lines and started servicing and selling Viking Yachts. The partnership between Bluewater and Viking helped both companies become dominant forces in the industry. 1986 Williston, North Carolina A SENSATION IS BORN Meanwhile, an ambitious young charter captain, Randy Ramsey, and a team of friends were building their first custom sportfish boat inspired by Outer Banks legend Omie Tillet and other master builders. The 52’ Sensation was an instant hit and after seeing the demand to build more like her, Jarrett Bay Boatworks was born. 1991 EXPANDING NORTH & SOUTH Bluewater opened up their first sales office in Annapolis, Maryland and later, a location in Pirates Cove, North Carolina. By the end of the decade, Earle Hall and Jud Black had joined Chris Hall as partners in the growing service and sales businesses. 1996 SUPERCHARGED SERVICE Bluewater purchased the neighboring 200+ slip Hampton Roads Marina and set out in rebuilding the entire complex.
