General Description

The classic Sparkman & Stephens-designed Tartan 37 is something of a sailing icon. With nearly 500 boats produced, the combination of quality construction, seakindliness, and attractive appearance make these boats desirable.

Rode Taken is a beautiful example of the 1980 Tartan 37. Lovingly cared for and never neglected, you'll find her in very good condition.

On deck she features four dorade boxes; two with stainless vent scoops and two with solar fans, giving a timeless look and improving cabin ventilation. Her brightwork is varnished and well maintained, and her canvas is in very good condition. The cockpit includes a bimini, and a boom/cockpit canopy is also included for shade at the anchorage. Two jib/genoa lead tracks provide ample sheet angle options, and self-tailing Lewmar primary winches are conveniently located at positions near the helm. All lines are led aft for short/single handing, and the cabintop traveler keeps the cockpit clutter free.

The cockpit features engine controls, wheel steering, and Raymarine ST60 instrumentation. A Raymarine ST4000+ wheel pilot handles the steering for you. A varnished folding cockpit table is perfect for dinners outside or drinks with friends.

Stepping below, a forest of solid teak awaits you. The interior is classic Tartan 37--navigation table with pilot berth to port, and the galley to starboard. The navigation table opens and is of proper size for trip planning and charting. The aft berth is conveniently accessible, and the upholstery throughout is new and modern. The galley includes a double stainless steel sink, propane three-burner stove with oven, and a deep refrigerator/freezer. Storage behind sliding teak panels conceals all of your galley items.

Moving forward is the salon area with bulkhead-mounted folding table. There's room for 6-8 around the table, and the starboard settee doubles as a single berth. Additionally, a pilot berth above and behind the starboard settee provides additional berthing. With storage behind and under every cushion, there are plenty of places for tools, spares, and provisions.

Moving forward past the keel-stepped mast with integral centerboard pendant is the head and forward cabin. The wet head includes a shower, stainless basin, and mirrored vanity. The forward berth features tall, louvered hanging lockers, many drawers, and opening ports and hatch to keep the air moving.

Rode Taken has newer sails and a 40-hp Westerbeke diesel.

Disclosure:

Some areas on deck reflect elevated moisture levels. One area of delamination (see photo 20) will require repair. Pricing reflects these findings.
