General Description

Rarely does one owner keep a boat for 43 years. So, finding a boat like this is a rarity. Finding a boat like this one that has had continuous care, and upgrades for 43 years is even more rare. Seute Deern is that boat.

There is not a system that has not been touched or upgraded over the years, inncluding shipping back to the factory in 2000 where a $150K refit was done and including new laid teak decks with new balsa coring and a full electrical refit. Her engine was replaced in 2007 and a generator added in 2008. More recently in 2025, the hull was painted. Over $43K was spent on just the painting.

Her owner has cruised and raced her, but mainly, he has spent time and money caring for her for 43 years. His commitment to her constant care shows. She has even had the same caretaker for over 20 years. Her replacement today would be well over $1M. Her asking price represents a boat of her age, but certainly not of her condition.

Whether you have ambitions to explore the world’s oceans or to cruise closer to home, this spacious, sturdy yacht with excellent sailing characteristics may be just the boat you are looking for!

Equipment

This Trintella 42 is an impressive, solidly built ship. The current owner has owned her for 43 years and he did not skimp on updates and maintenance. Whether you have ambitions to explore the world’s oceans or to go cruising closer to home, this spacious, sturdy yacht with excellent sailing characteristics may be just the boat you are looking for.

When you step on board, you will notice that the cockpit is spacious and deep for comfort and protection. The wide side decks and practical deck layout provide safe and easy maneuvering.

Inside, you are welcomed by a well-designed, warm, and nautical interior. Seute Deern has a combination of the two layouts that were offered. She has a owners' pullman berth forward with an opposite-facing hanging locker with a seat. Her owner’s head is in the forepeak. There is a deck access sail locker with chain locker access in front of the head and a guest quarter cabin aft to port-side with an offshore head aft to starboard. Her galley is to port just forward of the companionway with an oversized outboard-facing nav station to starboard. Her salon features two spacious C-shaped opposite settees. The port side is larger and serves as a dinette, and the starboard side has a smaller removable table.

Overall, this Trintella 42 is a spacious, beautiful and very solidly built ship. She is equally perfect for long-distance cruising and for having a relaxing, fun day on local waters.

Seller’s Comments

I shipped her back to her builder, Trintella Shipyard in s’ Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands in December 2000 and she was returned to me in July 2001. I have a copy of the original contract

to cover the intended work as well as the final invoice after the work was completed. The total money I paid for that work amounted to Euro 132,000 ($153,500), including renewing the entire electrical system and new balsa core and teak deck being the major items.
