The first Back Cove with outboard engines features an entirely new hull design.

Always on the leading edge of innovation, Back Cove Yachts has announced the 34O, and yes, “O” means Outboard. This one-of-a-kind motoryacht is set to debut in September at the Newport International Boat Show and is already getting a lot of attention.

Though few builders have adapted the growing outboard trend to downeast-style yachts, there are several benefits to this option. The standard power option for the 34O will be twin Yamaha 300hp engines, which are projected to propel this boat to an impressive 35-knot top speed – a 10-knot increase over the single inboard diesel model. The outboards will also offer serious efficiency, with an estimated 300-mile range from the 250-gallon fuel tank.

The upper deck layout is borrowed from the Back Cove 32 and will feature a functional galley aft the helm to starboard with a convertible bench to port that can face aft to the cockpit or forward to form a U-shaped dinette. The single level deck will allow for easy entertainment, with an open layout from the helm to the cockpit. An air-conditioned forward berth and a split-head design make this boat ideal for the weekend getaway.

Standard features include a bow thruster, SeaStar steering system, 5 kW generator with cabin A/C and an optional Seakeeper gyro stabilization system.
