Dan Bacot

Dan Bacot

Annapolis, MD
Dan has spent his entire life in the boating industry, since starting his career in 1976 and building a deep well of experience through owning and operating a marina, running his own brokerage, and managing boatyards and crews in Virginia. A longtime friend and collaborator of Bluewater Yacht Sales dating back to the mid-1980s, Dan was recently drawn to join the team full-time—citing their exceptional customer service, marketing, and in-house support as key motivators. His expertise lies in Downeast and trawler-style boats, and he brings a lifelong passion for cruising and sailing, with he and his family having owned a wide range of cruising vessels and a history of racing sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay. Dan’s extensive industry background has shaped a highly service-oriented approach, making him a trusted guide for clients across all types of boating needs.

Thomas Bennett

Beaufort, NC
Before joining Bluewater Yacht Sales, Thomas was most recently the Captain on Reel Development, an 84’ Jarrett Bay custom sportfish that has traveled extensively to fish the world’s greatest billfish destinations. Thomas explains he joined Bluewater to learn about other aspects of the boating world and to help people fulfill their boating dreams. Working on a variety of private and charter fishing boats since the age of fifteen, Thomas has been fishing professionally for over twenty years and offers in-depth experience and knowledge of both offshore and inshore boats—from massive Carolina-built boats down to small technical poling skiffs.

Derek Rawnsley

Derek Rawnsley

South Florida
Joining Bluewater Yacht Sales was an easy decision for this experienced broker, who was drawn to the company’s strong reputation along the East Coast and its unmatched in-house support team. Now focused on helping expand Bluewater’s presence in the Florida market, Derek brings a customer-first mindset and a proven track record in marine sales. Relishing the variety and challenges of every new deal and solving problems as they arise, he prides himself on going the extra mile for his clients. Born and raised in Jupiter, Florida, Derek enjoys sharing the “Jup Life” with his wife and three boys, in between all the other sports and recreation commitments. James is a lifelong boater from Northern Virginia who grew up fishing and cruising the Chesapeake Bay, getting his first boat at just sixteen. He began his career in the marine industry in 1996 at a local dealership and has since represented respected brands like Albemarle and Sea Ray. His professional journey includes time with Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales in Virginia as well as owning and operating his own brokerage firm. James takes a trust-driven approach to sales, focusing on building relationships rather than chasing numbers. Now at Bluewater Yacht Sales, he’s excited to offer leading center console brands such as Regulator Marine and Valhalla Boatworks to customers. With a combination of factory training and real-world experience, he’s committed to sharing that knowledge with his clients and helping them make informed decisions.

Lee Turlington

Lee Turlington

Hampton, VA
Lee began his career in the marine industry by assisting with boat transports for Bluewater Yacht Sales, which led to a full-time role at the company’s Hampton yard, now known as Safe Harbor Bluewater. There, he spent five years gaining hands-on experience in new boat commissioning, deliveries, and warranty service—developing a strong foundation in vessel operations and customer support. His attention to detail and commitment to quality work earned him a new role as New Boat Specialist, where he now plays a critical role in preparing vessels for owners across the region.
