2027 Regulator 31: What’s New, Design Changes, and Tech Upgrades

May 14, 2026 | Featured, Regulator Boats

The Regulator 31 is popular for a reason—it has a proven high-performance hull that provides a soft, dry ride, generous deck space, and serious speed and agility. It has long been known as the fastest boat in the fleet, topping out at nearly 65 mph, and is also among the most flexible, with multiple tackle center and seating configurations.

Now, starting with the 2027 model year, Regulator is doubling down on the 31, making it even more customizable, higher tech, and sharper-looking than ever before. The one thing that doesn’t change is the hull, meaning the new 31 will have all the latest features plus the same ride the model has long been known for.

There are dozens of changes coming to the 31, but here are the major improvements you can expect to see:

Refined Design

Even though the hull of the 31 will remain the same, it will look like a completely different boat. Starting at the bow, there will be a new deck cap and a bullnose toe rail, creating a wider gunwale and a larger anchor locker. The console will include an improved door to the head and, along with changes to the windshield, helm, and dash, will create an entirely different look. The T-top looks similar to the original 31 but now includes additional pipework and rocket launchers that extend down to the mezzanine. Finally, a lowered mezzanine seating area significantly changes the profile of the boat, making it appear more modern and comfortable. Taken together, the 31 will be practically unrecognizable and will feature a style more closely aligned with the larger models in the fleet.

Mezzanine and Tackle Center

Some of the most apparent improvements will be seen around the tackle center. As with the previous version, the new 31 can be outfitted with either a tackle center, mezzanine seating, or a modified mezzanine to accommodate a Seakeeper. The standard configuration will be a tackle center, similar to what was standard on the original 31.

The most significant change comes with the mezzanine seating option, which will be more ergonomic than before. While the previous mezzanine was raised with tackle storage below, the updated mezzanine is lowered so guests’ feet rest firmly on the deck, with tackle storage relocated to either side of the seating area. The lowered seating also allows for upgrades such as teak ladderback chairs at the helm. It is also important to note that the 31 can be equipped with a Seakeeper (SK2) gyrostabilizer, which is installed beneath the seating and storage area.

The updated design also includes pipework running from the mezzanine up to the T-top, allowing for eleven rocket launchers for improved fishability and rod storage.

Console and T-Top

The Regulator 31 will feature the same rigid T-top and surfboard-edge finish found on all offshore models, but this version will include a gutter to drain water away from the console, helping ensure guests stay dry in all conditions. Another major improvement is the windshield. Regulator’s engineers have borrowed the windshield ventilation system from the 35, which allows users to control airflow through a forward intake and fine-tune it with adjustable vents at the helm.

In addition to the T-top and windshield updates, the helm and dash have been completely reimagined with a fresh design, incorporating features such as touchscreen switches and options including a teak helm pod, upgraded Garmin electronics, and even heated helm seating.

Tech Upgrades

While many upgrades on the new 31 are immediately visible, some of the most significant changes are happening beneath the surface with new technology. The 31 will now feature the E‑Hub Lithium Battery System introduced on the Regulator 35. This 400‑amp house system can power onboard systems for hours without running the engines or being plugged in, and it can also power the optional Seakeeper gyro for extended periods at rest. Since the original 31 did not offer a generator, this lithium system represents a major improvement in overall usability.

Another exciting update is the addition of Garmin 9000‑series displays, previously available only on the 35 and 37. The 31 will also feature the proprietary MyHelm vessel management system, touchscreen switching, and key-fob control for easy battery management.

The first next-generation Regulator 31 is now in production and will be available for the 2027 model year, which begins in the summer of 2026. For more information about the Regulator 31, contact a Bluewater Yacht Sales Regulator specialist today.
