Downeast boaters will have something to look forward to in the coming months after Sabre Yachts officially announced the Sabre 43 Salon Express. The 43 will feature an entirely new hull and design, and will replace the ever popular 42, which remains one of Sabre’s most loved models after more than a decade of production. Some of the more notable changes in the fresh design will be expanded social spaces, a re-imagined cockpit, and an engine that will be positioned aft, allowing more space under the salon deck.
Stepping aboard the 43 SE, it will be evident that this boat was designed for entertainment whether outdoors or indoors. The cockpit will showcase a large l-shaped seating area with a table, along with a pair of aft-facing seats on either side of the salon door. She will also offer easy access to the swim platform with an integrated transom door, and wide walkways to port and starboard will make handling lines a breeze.
As you move forward into the salon, the extra length of the 43 is most noticeable, with an expansive bench to port, another dinette to starboard, and a set of helm chairs forward. Since the engines of the 43 are farther aft, there is also plenty of storage below the salon deck, which will be able to accommodate an optional washer and dryer, or simply more space for gear.
A few steps down will bring you to a fully equipped galley to port, and yet another seating area starboard. This U-Shaped lounge can be used for meals or as a private getaway, or the table can be lowered to create another berth for guests. Similar to many of Sabre’s other models, the 43 will also have a large master stateroom forward, with an island berth, abundant storage, and access to the head.
The Sabre 43 will be built for comfort but will also be easy to maneuver and capable of performance, thanks to Volvo D6-380 IPS engines, with optional D6-440 and 480’s available. Initial predictions show this boat capable of speeds well over 30 knots, with cruising speeds in the upper 20’s.
